Loïs Mennens is a MA Art History student at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Her bachelor thesis was about Alonso Sánchez Coello, a Spanish-Portuguese portrait painter at the court of Philip II, who was trained by the Dutch painter Anthonis Mor. In her studies she is always looking for the broader and overarching connections that have to do with the social, historical, economical and political context of an artist or an artwork.

During her bachelor studies, she held an internship at the paper restoration workshop of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Czech Republic. Now she is here at Illuminare for an MA internship. She will be working together with Annelies Vogels on upcoming exhibitions that will take place at the M Leuven museum and the University Library.
