Floortje Clerix (°1994) studied Art History at KU Leuven from 2012 until 2016. In the summer of 2013 she started working as a student employee for Illuminare – Centre for the Study of Medieval Art (KU Leuven). Her task consisted of assisting prof. dr. Lieve Watteeuw in conducting research focused on medieval illuminated manuscripts.
Floortje completed her Bachelor’s degree as an Erasmus student at Université Paris IV-Sorbonne. After doing an internship at the Département des Arts Graphiques of the Louvre Museum, she came back to Leuven for her Master’s degree, from which she graduated in 2016.
Her thesis, entitled ‘Gebedenboek in de stijl van de Meester van Karel V. Studie van een Zuid-Nederlands verlucht handschrift (ca. 1520-1530)’, received the Award for the Best Masters or Advanced Masters (MPHIL) Thesis in Medieval, Renaissance or Reformation Studies at KU Leuven.
In addition to her job as a student employee at Illuminare, Floortje worked as a guide in M-Museum Leuven for the major exhibition ‘In Search of Utopia’, held at the end of the year 2016.
